Clayso. US Benefits & Personal Finance

Fact-Checking Policy

Clayso’s fact-checking process is designed to make benefit and personal finance coverage accurate, current, and clearly sourced. We review important claims against the documents and sources that support them, with extra care for figures, eligibility rules, and deadlines that can change.

Sources and verification

When available, we prioritize primary sources such as federal and state agency guidance, official program documents, current notices, and published data. We check that a source applies to the correct program, location, and date. When secondary sources are useful for context, we distinguish that context from the underlying official rule.

Figures, dates, and program status

We check benefit amounts, income limits, percentages, and dates against the cited source or the program parameters used in a calculation. We identify relevant assumptions and distinguish confirmed changes from proposals, estimates, or announcements. A maximum benefit is not necessarily the amount an individual household will receive.

Updates and reader reports

Program details can change after publication. We review reader reports and new official information, then update an article when a material detail needs correction or clarification. If you spot a possible error, please use our Corrections Policy and Contact page to tell us what to review.

Clayso provides general educational information. Readers should confirm current eligibility, amounts, and deadlines with the official agency responsible for the program.
